2013 - a glorious year - our 50th Birthday
Thursday Cottage was started exactly 50 years ago in 1963 and we will be celebrating our Birthday all year. From humble beginnings in a thatched cottage in Somerset making a tiny range of preserves, we now make hundreds of different products for a wide range of customers, both at home and abroad. Thankfully some things don't change and we still cook in small batches and handfill our jams and marmalades.
March 2013 - Marmalade Festival & Awards Dalemain Cumbria
For many, the early weeks of a new year bring some joyful steamy marmalade moments in the kitchen. This is the only time of the year the unique and wonderfully fragrant seasonal Seville orange is available to be transformed into pots of gold by marmaladers the world over.
First chillies grown at Trewlands Farm
Thursday Cottage grow first chillies for our sister brand jules & sharpie.
Well known for their abundant fruit orchards and strawberry fields, this is an exciting new venture for Wilkin & Son and Thursday Cottage at Tiptree, Essex. Instigated by Thursday Cottage’s recent acquisition of the jules & sharpie brand and with several acres available for cultivation, there are plans to expand the area planted next year.
Measuring anything between 100,000 and 350,000 on the Scovile scale (used to gauge heat), these chillies are the trademark ingredient in the jules & sharpie range of jams, chutneys, sauces and savoury jellies.
September 2012 - Great Taste Gold
Yet again, we struck gold at the 2012 Great Taste Awards run by the Guild of Fine Food.
April 2012 - The Diamond Jubilee Year
In order to celebrate the Queen’s Jubilee and her wonderful service to the nation over the last sixty years, we have produced a limited edition Jubilee Strawberry with a suitably patriotic label.
February 2012 - National Marmalade Week
The first ever National Marmalade Week will take place from 25 February - 3 March 2012 giving people all over the world a chance to celebrate our national breakfast dish. The weekend before also sees the Marmalade Festival at Dalemain House, Penrith, Cumbria, at which the overall winner will be announced.

January 2012 - New website
Working with our friends at Doodlebug Design in South West London, we have relaunched and redesigned our website. We hope you all enjoy the new look as much as we do.
September 2011 - Great Taste Gold
Yet again, we struck gold at the annual Great Taste Awards run by Fine Food Digest. Both our Bitter Orange Marmalade and our Greengage Jam won one star gold awards.
