The Thursday Cottage sales office thoroughly enjoyed volunteering at Little Havens Hospice last Wednesday.

Donna our sales director got the best job, shovelling manure! It wasn’t planned that way, she insisted! Sonia and Zoya made use of their green fingers and put their skills to use, weeding in the garden. Jo, Leah and Pele put on the gloves, picked up the brushes and painted the entrance fence and gates.

All these little things help keep the surroundings in tip top condition so that the children and their families can enjoy the surroundings. It was great fun and so rewarding to give something back to a charity, which gives so much to others.

Little Havens provide specialist care for babies, children and teenagers, up to the age of 19 from across Essex, who have a life-limiting or life threatening illness.

The hospice offers short respite breaks, emergency stays to control a child’s symptoms caused by their illness or medication; and care for children at the end of their lives – for as long as is needed – within the home and at our hospice.

The hospice looks after the whole family too such as one-to-one support, post bereavement care and emotional and educational support for siblings.

All the care is free of charge, but as a charity donations are always welcomed. If you would like to donate to Little Havens Hospice or find out more information, please visit
