Baked Apples with an Amaretto Crumble

Ingredients

  • 2 large apples

  • 20g oats

  • 12g light brown sugar

  • 10g plain flour

  • 12g butter

  • 8g ground almonds

  • ½ tsp ground cinnamon

  • ½ tsp salt

  • 80g Thursday Cottage Amaretto Butter

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 190C/170C(fan)/gas mark 5.

  2. Carefully core the apples and place in a baking dish. If you are doing this step in advance, brush the centres with a little lemon juice to prevent browning.

  3. Mix together the oats, sugar, flour, ground almonds, cinnamon, and salt.

  4. Rub in the butter until crumbly.

  5. Add the amaretto butter, working in lightly until thick clumps start to form.

  6. Stuff the apples with the crumble mixture and bake for 35-40 minutes.

  7. Remove from the oven and serve warm with a generous pouring of cream or custard.
